House with the Shop of Merchant Petr Stepanovich Rakov

The house with the shop of merchant Petr Stepanovich Rakov in Kaluga is an object of cultural heritage of regional significance. Built specifically for the merchant, it has a corner entrance that smooths the intersection of streets, and after the 1917 revolution, the owner voluntarily transferred the building and valuables to the state. The childhood of his son, the future famous Soviet composer and professor of the Moscow Conservatory Nikolai Petrovich Rakov, took place in this house, and Petr Stepanovich himself died in exile in 1944 after the family's deportation to the Arkhangelsk region in 1932.
