Railway Gates
Kaliningrad, Gvardeyskiy Ave
Kalinin's Railway Gates were built from 1866 to 1869 and served as an entrance to the old railway line passing through the city towards Pillau (modern-day Baltiysk). The structure preserved original rails until the end of the 20th century, after which it was transformed into a pedestrian zone. The gates are adorned with casemates featuring embrasures and gunports giving the impression of protective shutters. Today, to the left of the gates stands a multimedia planetarium, while nearby there is a path leading to a park beyond the monument.
