Upper Lake

Upper Lake situated in Kaliningrad is a green recreational area with picturesque shores. A group of sculptures depicting sea animals created by Gerhard Tiede in 1913 can be found here. Previously there were defensive structures which were later demolished and moved to the university's inner courtyard. The lake connects to Lower Pond via a water channel and has ecological issues related to past pollution. Efforts are underway for cleaning up the lake and improving the surroundings.
