St Nikolay Cathedral (Judtten Church)

St Nikolay Cathedral, formerly Judithen Kirche, is situated on Shady Alley Street in Kaliningrad. It is the oldest building in the city, founded in 1288, and the first post-war Orthodox structure. The cathedral now belongs to a female monastery and has a rich history: it hosted its first post-war Orthodox service in 1988. Its main treasure is the sculpture "Madonna with Child on a Half-Moon" from the 15th century. The building also served as a fortress due to its strong walls with embrasures. The cathedral's choir is considered one of the best in the city. In 2007, the site was included in the regional cultural heritage list.
