Southern Park

South Park is situated on the site of former city fortifications of Königsberg. Here there remain bastions, ravelins and fortress walls including Friedland Gates built as early as the beginning of the 20th century. Landscaping of the park was done according to Ernst Schneider's concept "city-garden". Among trees there are beech, oak, chestnut and maple. In the park memorial signs commemorate heroes from Komsomol and pilots who died during the city's storming.
