Cathedral of Christ the Savior

The Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Kaliningrad is situated on Victory Square. Construction commenced in 1995 under the involvement of Russian President Boris Yeltsin. Designed by architect Oleg Koplyov, it follows the traditions of Vladimir-Suzdal architecture. The dedication of the upper church occurred in 2006 by Patriarch Alexius II. Within are icons originally intended for the Russian garrison in Memel during the Seven Years' War, transferred from Germany in 1996. The bell tower features 13 bells totaling more than 100 tons, including the heaviest bell at 14 tons. The structure's height, including the cross, measures 73 meters.
