Cathedral of Christ the Savior

Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Kaliningrad is situated on Victory Square. Construction began in 1995 with involvement of Russian President Boris Yeltsin. The cathedral was designed in Vladimir-Suzdal architectural tradition by architect Oleg Kopylov. Upper temple consecration took place in 2006 by Patriarch Alexius II. Inside there is an iconostasis created for the Russian garrison in Memel during the Seven Years' War and transferred from Germany in 1996. Bell tower features 13 bells weighing over 140 tons including the largest bell weighing 14 tons. Cathedral's height is 73 meters.
