Amalienau Historic District

Historical Amalienau district in Kaliningrad is a unique place planned in the style of "garden city". Streets here are laid out so that none intersect at right angles, while houses feature quirky fachwerk facades and unusual roof shapes. Architect Fritz Heitmann embodied the idea of rural estates, creating cozy villas and plots with rare trees and flowering shrubs. The area has gradually lost its original opulence but retains an atmosphere of seclusion and tranquility.
