Знаменский женский монастырь

Znamensky female monastery is located on the banks of Angara River in the historical center of Irkutsk. Founded in 1689, it is one of the oldest monasteries in Eastern Siberia and continues to operate. The ensemble includes architectural monuments from the 18th century, including Znamenskaya church. On the monastery grounds there is a grave of seafarer Grigory Shelikhov and a monument to Admiral Kolchak.
