Znamensky Cathedral

Znamensky Cathedral is the main church of the eponymous women's monastery in Irkutsk, founded in stone in 1757 on the site of a former wooden church. The cathedral, dedicated to the icon of the Mother of God "Znamenie," with its side chapels and bell tower, forms the monastery ensemble and is a monument to Siberian church architecture of the 18th century. The cathedral is located at the mouth of the Ushakovka River on the bank of the Angara and is connected with the history of the Orthodox diocese of Irkutsk.
