The sculpture "Babr" is situated in a square on Lenin Street in Irkutsk. This mythical creature has become an unofficial symbol of the city and its emblem. Initially, babr denoted a tiger; however, the image on the coat of arms of Irkutsk was altered. Babr is portrayed alongside a sable in its jaws, reflecting a historical tradition of the city's coat of arms. The sculpture is well-known among tourists and residents owing to frequent photographs taken at this location.
