Geodesists-Explorers Monument

The Geodesists' Explorers Monument stands on the Lower Angara Embankment in Irkutsk; it was unveiled on September 28, 2012 to commemorate the city's 350th anniversary. The sculptural composition features two professionals—one sitting on a stump while another stands next to a geodetic instrument. The idea for the monument originated from members of the geodetic industry. The sculpture was transported from Zhukovsky, Moscow Oblast.
