Colчак Monument

Иркутск, ул. Ангарская

Admiral Aleksandr Vasilyevich Kolchak Memorial is in Irkutsk near Znamensky Monastery on Angarskaya Street. It is the first such monument in Russia featuring a bronze admiral figure in a trench coat on a pedestal with a relief showing a Red Army soldier and a White Guard soldier lowering their bayonets. Admiral was famous as a polar explorer and leader of the white movement during the Civil War, frequently giving lectures at Irkutsk University. He was executed here in 1920.
