Moscow Gates

Moscow Gates - the main symbol of Irkutsk, installed in 2001 on the previous site. It is a copy of the original structure built in 1813 to celebrate the jubilee of Tsar Alexander I. The gates are decorated with columns, reliefs and plasterwork, have a height of 19 meters and a width exceeding 16 meters. Under the portico there is a room for tea parties. Originally, the gates indicated the way out of the city towards the European part of Russia.
