Eternal Flame Memorial

Memorial "Eternal Flame" in Irkutsk immortalizes the memory of deceased Irkutsk residents during World War II. Here burns a symbolic flame symbolizing eternal remembrance of heroes. Since 1995, Veterans' Alley leading to Angara has been functioning. More than hundred thousand schoolchildren annually participate in honorary guard duty at the memorial. Memorials plaques list hero cities and battlefields. Post #1 at the memorial is an important city tradition.
