Irkutsk Academic Drama Theatre named after N.P. Okhlopkov

Irkutsk Academic Drama Theatre named after N.P. Okhlopkov is situated at Karl Marx Street, 14 in Irkutsk. Founded in 1850, it is the oldest theatre in Siberia and a federal architectural monument. The theatre bears the name of outstanding Irkutsk director Nikolay Pavlovich Okhlopkov. Its building, constructed in 1897 in the style of Siberian baroque, was designed by architect Shreter. Both classical plays ("Hamlet", "Uncle Vanya") and contemporary productions are staged here. Throughout its existence, the theatre hosted touring troupes from across the country.
