Bogoyavlensky Cathedral

Иркутск, Нижняя набережная, 2

The Church of the Epiphany in Irkutsk is the city's second oldest stone church, founded in 1693 outside the Irkutsk Kremlin. The building survived two devastating earthquakes in the 18th century and a fire in 1879 that stopped at its walls. The cathedral was built over more than 28 years and consecrated in 1746. From 1968 to 1986 it housed an ethnographic museum. The temple was returned to the Orthodox Church in 1994.
