Kell-Ezra Synagogue

The Kele-Numaz Synagogue is located on Tagi-Zade Street in Derbent and is the only surviving of more than a dozen synagogues that operated in the city in the 19th century. The building was constructed in 1914 by the Hanukaev brothers, well-known local merchants. After restoration in the 21st century, it houses a community center, mikvah, and museum dedicated to the mountain Jews. The history of the Jewish community in Derbent dates back several centuries, starting from the 13th century.
