St. Simon Cathedral

The Cathedral of St. Simon in Chelyabinsk is located at Kyshtymskaya Street, 32. Built in 1883, it was originally a small stone cemetery church. During World War II, it remained the only functioning church among 17 Chelyabinsk churches. The cathedral is named after Saint Simon of Verkhoturye and is known for its golden domes over blue roofs. It houses icons with relics of saints Andrew the First-called, Pyotr, and Feodora. In 2018, a museum of Orthodox regional history opened in the temple. Locals call it "the blue" or "the white" cathedral.
