Holy-Simeon Cathedral

The Holy-Simeon Catedral Cathedral is situated at Kyshtymskaya Street, 32 in Chelyabinsk. Dedicated in 1883 to Saint Simon of Verkhoturye, it houses icons with relics of saints. Father Ioann Dneprovsky served as its first dean. After the war, an annex was added dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The cathedral's bell tower collapsed during a storm shortly after its construction. The architect was Pyotr Ilyinykh, who also participated in building other Chelyabinsk churches. It is significant for the Urals region because it became the site of the first patriarchal visit.
