State Historical Museum of Southern Ural

The State Historical Museum of the Southern Urals is located in Chelyabinsk on Truda Street, 100. Founded in 1913 due to the initiative of botanist Ivan Mikhailovich Krasheninnikov and educator Dmitry Valentinovich Moshkov. It houses unique collections including fragments of the meteorite "Chelyabinsk" and exhibits about the city's contribution to World War II. Initially the museum was situated in the mansion of merchants Yauzhev, later it moved to a specially designed building.
