The State Historical Museum of the Southern Urals is located in Chelyabinsk at Truda Street, 100. It was founded on July 1, 1923 as a Local Landscape Museum. Today its collection includes over 50,000 archaeological findings. The main treasure of the museum is a fragment of the Chelyabinsk meteorite weighing approximately 500 kilograms. Regular exhibitions attract up to 220,000 visitors annually, along with well-known international festivals "PhotoFest" and "Debarcader". The observation deck on the roof offers picturesque views of the Miass River. The new building of the museum, built in 2006, is situated right next to the riverside promenade.
