Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral

The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral is situated in Arkhangelsk, on the banks of the Solombalka River. Its history is closely linked to the Arkhangelsk port and shipbuilding yard. The cathedral was built for sailors and employees of local admiralty, closed in 1920 and destroyed in the early 1930s. A new building of the church was constructed in 2018 near its previous location. Members of the Romanov royal family visited here. From 1775 until 1930, there stood a similarly named cathedral in Solombala, previously known as Admiralty.
