Seal Savior Monument

In Arkhangelsk, on the banks of Northern Dvina, a bronze statue of a seal-saver was installed. It was opened on May 6, 2010. The sculpture's height is 1.4 meters. Seals helped residents of Arkhangelsk and besieged Leningrad survive hungry war years, becoming an important food source. The idea to erect a monument arose immediately after the war, but its implementation dragged on for decades. The pedestal features inscriptions recalling the wartime years.
