Kyrk-Kyz Fortress located near Termez is a monument of architecture from the 9th-10th centuries. Its layout includes symmetrical corridors and internal rooms. The structure is known by various names: palace, fortress, monastery or caravanserai. The name "Forty Girls" is linked to a legend about the defenders who allegedly chose death over captivity by enemies.
