Ulugh Beg Observatory

Ulugh Beg Observatory is located on Kukhak Hill near Samarkand and was built between 1424 and 1428. It is one of the most important medieval scientific structures where precise astronomical observations were conducted and Ulugh Beg's famous tables were created. Among the scientists who worked there are Kazı-Dede Rumî and Ali Qushçî. The main part of the surviving complex is a fragment of a large astronomical instrument.
