Afrosiab Museum

Afrosiab Museum is located in Samarkand near the ancient Afrosiab settlement. It was opened in 1970 and is part of the Samarkand State Museum-Preserve. Exhibits include archaeological finds covering the city's history from ancient times to the Mongol era. Among the exhibits are ceramics, metalwork, glass and coins. Special value is placed on palace paintings discovered in 1965 depicting receptions of foreign envoys. The building's architect was Bagdasar Arzumanyan.
