Sher-Dor Madrasah
Самарканд, Регистан
Sher-Dor Madrasah is part of the famous Registan ensemble in Samarkand. It is located on the eastern side of the square and is one of the three madrasahs of the complex. The distinctive feature of the building's facade are bright decorative elements made of majolica and mosaics, as well as unusual zoological symbols including images of tiger-like lions, which are unique to Islamic architecture. The madrasah was built in the 17th century opposite another well-known structure of the ensemble - Ulugh Beg Madrasah.
