Namazgah Mosque

Namazgoh Mosque is situated in the southwestern part of Samarkand and included in UNESCO's list as part of the cultural heritage "Samarqand - Crossroads of Cultures". It is a large open festive mosque intended for holding collective prayers, especially during major religious holidays. Inside the portal there is a main prayer hall with a mihrab. The total area of the protected territory amounts to about 6.7 hectares; the western part of the building features an imposing monumental portal.
