Magoki Kurpa Mosque

The Magoki-Kurpa Mosque, built in 1636–1637, is an independent architectural monument of Bukhara and belongs to Sunni mosques. It is one of the two "underground" mosques of the city, having two floors: the lower, partially sunken floor served for prayer in winter, and the upper one in summer. On the upper floor, nine domes rest on four octagonal pillars, three of which have stalactite decoration, and the painting is preserved on the dome above the mihrab and on the central dome. The mosque is located in Old Bukhara about ten meters west of the trading dome of Toki Telpak-Furushon.
