Hanaka Fayzabad

Bukhara, Fayzabad, beyond the eastern city wall

Khanaka Fayzabad built in 1598-1599 stands beyond the eastern city wall of Bukhara. It is a 16th-century architectural monument serving as both a mosque and a place for Sufi rituals. The central room is surrounded by galleries where dervishes temporarily lived. Five prayers were held daily including Friday prayer. Construction is associated with Maulana Poyanda-Muhammad Akhi Fayzobadi.
