Ahmadjon Caravanserai

The Akhmadjon Caravanserai in Bukhara, dating back to the 19th century, is part of a group of historical inns that served as accommodation for traveling merchants. The building with a central courtyard and hujras is included in the national register of tangible cultural heritage sites of Uzbekistan, but over time it has fallen into a semi-ruined state due to the accumulation of waste. After the Soviet period, when the structure was used as a dormitory, Akhmadjon was included in a restoration project for four Bukhara caravanserais, initiated in 2003 with the participation of a French association. As of 2019, its restoration was planned as the second phase of this project.
