Знаменskaya (Vlayskayabashnya)

The Banner (Wlaskaya) Tower - one of the few surviving towers of the Earthen City in Yaroslavl. Built after the fire of 1658, it served as an important defensive structure and later became part of the Banner Church. Later its top was reconstructed for the needs of the city water supply. Today, the tower is a federal cultural heritage site and an important architectural dominion of the historical center of the city. Previously called the Uglich Gates, because from there began the road to Uglich.
