Volga Embankment

Volga Embankment in Yaroslavl is renowned for its historical ensemble of classical era. It features Governor's House and former nobles' and merchants' mansions. A distinctive feature is a stone pavilion with six fluted columns and circular vault built in the 1840s instead of an earlier Chinese-style wooden arbour. The embankment has been improved and includes river station as well as new public buildings from the 20th century. Upper level of the embankment serves as a formal walkway for city residents.
