Church of John the Baptist in Tolkochev

St. John the Baptist Church in Tolkochevo - the largest church of Yaroslavl in the 17th century, representing a fifteen-domed architectural composition. Construction took place from 1671 to 1687 by residents of the nearby tannery sloboda. The painting of the temple is an outstanding example of Russian art of that time, featuring over 1500 scenes. Images of the bell tower and church adorn the reverse side of Russian banknotes worth 1000 rubles series of 1997.
