John the Baptist Church in Tolkochevo

St. John the Baptist Church in Tolkochevo is the largest 17th-century church in Yaroslavl, a majestic fifteen-domed architectural ensemble. Construction took place from 1671 to 1687 by laypeople. The interior paintings of the temple are an outstanding example of Russian art at that time, featuring over 1,500 scenes. An image of the church appears on the reverse side of Russian banknotes worth 1,000 rubles.
