Tolga Sisters Monastery

The Tolga Female Monastery is situated in the village of Tolga near Yaroslavl. Founded in 1314 as a male monastery, it was closed for nearly sixty years and reopened in 1987 as a female monastery. It houses a unique collection of Siberian cedars preserved within its walls since the 16th century. The monastery also features Nikolskaya Church built in 1652, and the relics of Bishop Ignatius Brianchaninov transferred here in 1988.
