Vadim Orlov Museum is situated in an historical house on Volga Embankment in Yaroslavl. The building has a modern facade in late classical style and a deep vaulted cellar from the 17th century. Originally owned by merchants Shapkins, it was later used as a hospital with a maternity ward by Yaroslavl doctors' society. The initial construction was completed in 1678 by Dmitry Rukavishnikov; subsequently, the building changed hands several times and served various purposes for the city.
