Afanasyevsky Monastery

The Afanasyevsky Men's Monastery is situated in Yaroslavl on Chyeluskintsev Square. Established in the 16th century, it was revived in 1613. In 2005, the churches were restored to the Russian Orthodox Church following their closure since 1925 during which time a furniture factory was based here. The monastery features the renowned Icon of Our Lady's Sign, venerated for its miraculous attributes.
