Uspensky Cathedral in Great Rostov is the oldest building of the city, founded in 1508 by Grand Prince Vasily III. It is the oldest surviving structure of Rostov and an important part of the Cathedral Square ensemble connected with the architecture of Rostov Kremlin. The cathedral's design was based on churches from Moscow and Vladimir Kremlins. Visiting the cathedral is usually included in many city tours.
