Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral
Переславль-Залесский, Красная пл., 1а
The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral in Pereslavl-Zalessky is the oldest church of the city, founded in 1152 by Yuri Dolgoruky. It serves as an architectural monument of the Vladimir-Suzdal school and the earliest surviving structure of this tradition. The cathedral contains the burials of Prince Dmitry Alexandrovich and Ivan Dmitrievich, descendants of Alexander Nevsky. After the 2015 restoration, it regained its original appearance. Here, Alexander Nevsky was baptized and took monastic vows.
