S.Y. Marshak Monument

Voronezh, Karla Marksa St, 72

The monument to Sergey Yakovlevich Marshak is situated on Karl Marx Street in Voronezh. A bronze composition about 2.5 meters high depicts the poet wearing a warm coat with a fur collar. On his open palm there is a bird. The statue was installed opposite the house where the Marshak family lived during World War I. The opening took place with the participation of the poet's grandson Alexander Marshak. Funds for its creation were collected through public donations, with the sculptor being Voronezh-based artist Maxim Dikunov. Annually, the city hosts a children's theatrical festival called "Marshak".
