Voronezh, Generala Chernyakhovskogo Sq
The monument to General Ivan Danilovich Chernyakhovsky was installed in Voronezh on his namesake square. It was opened in the city on May 9, 1993 after being transferred from Vilnius, where it was originally unveiled in December 1950. The sculpture is made of bronze by sculptor Nikolay Tomsky with architect Lev Golubovskiy's design. On the pedestal there is an engraved inscription "To General I.D. Chernyakhovsky from Voronezh residents." Chernyakhovsky twice became a Hero of the Soviet Union and commanded the 60th Army during the Battle of Voronezh in summer 1942.
