Alekseevsky-Akatov Convent

The monastery is situated on a high bank of the River Voronezh. Established by city dwellers as a vow following victory over Lithuanians and Cossacks. Its history ties to tragic events of early 20th century when clergy faced repressions. Today it is the sole surviving female monastery among ancient convents of Voronezh. Here stands the first stone church with a bell tower built in the city in 1674.
