The Vladimir Girls' Gymnasium was founded in 1870 and became the first secondary school for girls in the Vladimir region. Girls from noble families and officials' circles studied history, theory of Russian literature, geography, mathematics, physics, Divine Law, and civil history here. The education lasted nine years, making the gymnasium a prestigious educational institution in the area. Classes took place in a building previously owned by local nobility on Dvoryanskaya Street.
