Vladimir Province Male Gymnasium

The Vladimir Province Male Gymnasium was founded in August 1804. Here were educated prominent individuals including poet Konstantin Balmont, writers Nikolay Zlatovratsky and physicist Alexander Stoletov. Until 1820 education here was free. After the fire in 1840 the gymnasium moved to Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street, 35. The academic year traditionally began on August 1.
