Uspensky Cathedral

Uspensky Cathedral in Vladimir situated on Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street is an important monument of ancient Russian architecture. It was founded by Prince Andrey Bogolyubsky in 1158 and originally built from white stone. The cathedral is known for frescoes by Andrey Rublev and Danila Chyornyy from 1408 including the composition "Judgment Day". In 1992 it entered the UNESCO World Heritage List together with other white-stone monuments of Vladimir and Suzdal. After a fire the cathedral was reconstructed between 1185 and 1189.
