St. George Church

The Church of George the Victorious in Vladimir city is situated on Georgievskaya Street, 6. The building is in baroque style and was constructed between 1783 and 1784 on the site of an ancient church which burned down in the fire of 1778. Later, a porch dedicated to Prince Vladimir was added to the temple. Inside, there are preserved wall and vault paintings from the beginning of the XIX century. Saint George the Victorious is the heavenly patron of the founder of the city - Prince Yuri Dolgoruky.
