Bogoroditse-Rozhdestvensky Monastery

The Bogorodice-Rozhdestvensky Male Monastery is situated in Vladimir on Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street, 68. It was founded in honor of the main cathedral of Rozhdestvo Bogoroditsy. In 1866, within the monastery, an adjacent church dedicated to Rozhdestvo Khrysta was built according to architect Nikolay Artleben's design. Here, in 1263, the relics of Prince Aleksander Nevsky were buried; they were later moved to Saint Pyotrsburg in 1723. The monastery suffered destruction during Baty's invasion in 1238 and experienced the revival of monastic life in 1991, marking its 800th anniversary.
