Покровский монастырь

The Покровский monastery is located on the right bank of the Kamenka river in Suzdal city. Founded in 1364, it became a major religious center of Rus' in the XVI-XVII centuries. The architectural ensemble was formed mainly in the first half of the XVI century. Here lie the relics of Saint Sophia of Suzdal, and here lived prominent women who took vows as nuns. Monks returned to the monastery in 1992.
