Chekhov Monument

Anton Pavlovich Chekhov's monument is located on the Tom River embankment in Tomsk. It was created by sculptor Leonty Usov and solemnly unveiled on August 20, 2004 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the city. The full title of the monument reflects the ironic view of the author towards how locals perceive Chekhov. Despite negative impressions of Tomsk by the writer, the monument has become one of the city's calling cards and attracts many tourists.
