Ural Geological Museum

The Ural Geological Museum is situated in Yekaterinburg at Kuybysheva Street, 39. It was founded in August 1937 and initially called the Geological Exhibition. Today its collection is rich with minerals, many of which were first discovered on the Urals and named after their location, such as ilmenite, vishnevite. Particularly notable is a huge quartz crystal weighing 784 kg and standing 170 cm high. The museum's exhibition features detailed descriptions of exhibits collected personally by its founder, Alexander Ivanovich Kalugin.
