The cathedral was founded in 1818 and construction continued from 1838 thanks to donations from merchant Ryazanov. After being closed in the 1930s and unused for a long time, services resumed in the 1990s. Today, the cathedral serves as a place for regular worship and holidays, functioning as an active cathedral of the Ekaterinburg diocese.
