Black Tulip Memorial

Memorial "Black Tulip" in Yekaterinburg is situated on Army Square. The central composition features a soldier sitting with an automatic rifle surrounded by metal pylons-fuselages of airplanes bearing the surnames of 240 Ural residents who died in Afghanistan. The monument weighing 4.5 tons and standing 4.7 meters high is made from metal with protective coating. Construction began in 1992 with support from the Ural Military District. Fifteen competitive works from various organizations and individual authors contributed to its creation.
